RICH YOUTH, POOR YOUTH

The urge to be financially buoyant is the dream of every youth. But not all will be. “For the poor shall never lease out of the land...” Deut 15:11. There are several young people that are willing to be rich in life, but they never know how. Mind you, there are some that get rich but still they lack the mind of success they will never succeed in life e.g. MICHAEL Tyson made $300million at the peak of his fighting career but today he his bankrupt, he lacks the mind set of success. Michael Jackson, arguable the most popular song artist and at a time made the list of top 20 richest in the world now has his wardrobe out for sales, left with almost nothing at 50 years birthday on 29 Aug 2008.
And there are two other Michaels that inspire me, so much that I feel like add Michael to my list of names. They possess or may be acquire some extra mind of success. For instance when Olympic gold medalist track star Michael Johnson ran he seems to glide across the track, his feet bearly touching the surface. His affable personality made him a crowd and media favorite, but I was struck by his humility during the 1996 Olympic games he shed fears as he crossed the line. His appreciation as he draped the American flag across his tired body for a gold-media was inspirational. He was a true champion. There is this other Michael. You know the one. The guy
who is arguable the best basketball player to ever grace the game. The one who proved that character is what you do when no one is watching. He was physically talented, yes, but his mental toughness, is legendary both of these champion left an inedible mark on their sport but it is the following two quotes that are forever engrave in my mind.
“I have missed more than none thousand shot in my career. I have lost almost three hundred games. On twenty-six occasions I have been entrusted to takes the game winning shots and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that’s precisely why… I succeed”
Michael Jordan (Five time MBA league MVP)
“Life is often compared to a marathon, but I think it is more like being a sprinter, long stretches of hard work punctured by brief moment in which we are given the opportunity to perform at our best”
Michael Johnson
(200m and 400m Olympic gold model winner)
We shall draw references from the Bible as we discuss the three drives to financial accomplishment we shall discuss the following.
· Diligence
· Mind of success
· 10 commandment

DILIGENCE:
In the business of life diligence leads to preferment and honor. Proverb 22:29 “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before king he will not stand before obscure men” ((Reverse Standard version) “Hast thou seen a man speedy in his business? Before kings he doth station himself, he stations not himself before obscure men” (Young Literal Translation) “Seen thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings he shall not stand before mean men” (American Standard Version).
The general meaning of this Proverb is every diligent, active man, shall be at once independent and respectable. Success rewards diligence Solomon said “the Land of the diligent makes rich and “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance” Proverb 10:46; 21:5 (RSV).
A lazy man cannot be diligent and as such cannot be successful. “The hand of the diligent shall rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute Proverb 12:24. King Solomon was such a
successful ruler and that has given him enough words of wisdom for us. Other King Solomon’s words on diligence, wealth, laziness and poverty can be checked up in the following passage during your personal Bible study. Proverbs 13:4, 23: 15:12; 16:25; 18:9; 19:15, 24; 20:4, 13; 21:5, 25-26; 22:13, 29; 24:30-34; 26:13-16; 27:18, 23, 27; 28:19.
MIND OF SUCCESS
Not many people have it. The example I gave at the beginning concerning Michael Tyson is a good one. The $300million is enough for the whole West Africa countries excluding Nigeria for a decade of developmental programmes! The heart of success is something that comes from your behaviour and life-style. The little you have what do you do with it, some of us waste it on things that add nothing to us e.g. Fashion and pleasure.
10 COMMANDMENTS
It has been discovered that it is a small line that separate the rich and the poor. No man is born poor or rich, it is all about the decisions we make, the opportunities we afford ourselves, the knowledge we acquire at one time or the other some even believe it is about luck. All these are assumptions according to the world system.
As a godly youth who desires to live above the limitation in life yet without going out of the will of God for life. It is possible to live rich on campus even if you are not from a rich home. It is possible to live above the “Cre level”. It is possible to give toward just course while you are still a student by following the kingdom principles. The first step to a life of well being and comfort is to seek first the kingdom of God. The kingdom ruled by a king, and every true citizen of that kingdom must be identified with the king. You must accept the Lordship of the king. To be a rich youth you must identify with the rich Daddy. The following points differentiate a rich youth from the poor. The highlighted point is what I call the 10 commandment.
1 God recognition: Rich youth are not like their counterpart, they recognize God. The king of the kingdom. Proverb 3vs 5-6 .They acknowledges him in all their ways and depends on him for ideas to make wealth. Deut 8:18
2 They know the mind of God: Rich youth seek the mind of God before they venture into any business or endevour. They enquire from God to avoid costly mistakes Psalm 25:9
3 They are givers: The rich Youths are not stingy, they regard whatever they have as God given, so it is not hard for them to give it back to God and the needy; this makes them live above poverty as a student Proverb 11:24.
4 They are faithful Tithers: Malachi 3:10. They obey this verse to the core. And God rebuke devourers for their sake. Devourers can come in different form for example academic devourers can come as; carry over, missing script, examination cancellation e.t.c all these and other devourers are rebuked in the lives of faithful student tithers.
5 They are prudent spenders: Rich youth are great spenders but prudent and careful with their spending, they do not spend thrift, they don’t show off, they are not ostentatious, neither are they impulsive spenders while the poor pretend to be what they are not; they are wasteful and impulsive spender.
6 They prioritized their needs: The rich youths are great planners. They draw scale of preference for their needs. And they are disciplined and thoughtful spenders.
7 They are industrious: They engage themselves in productive venture. They engage in sales of all sorts, they render services and are creative. They engage in stock investment and different financial opportunities. These are what rich youths do and the poor “Bigboys” rather than engage in unproductive venture.
8 They think big: They are not Lilliputians but giants. Their greatness shoots from their always positive state of mind.
9 They keep credible company: The rich youth knows the danger of bad company and understand that “He that walketh with the wise men shall be wise; but a company of fools shall be destroyed” Proverb 13:20, Psalm 1.
10 They pray always: They believe they can achieve whatever they set their mind on through the power of prayers. They believe in the word of God and pray without season 1 Thes 5:17.
